Meigs Tardy Policy

While we know that the occasional late arrival may be unavoidable, tardiness to school means that your child is losing valuable instructional time. State law requires that students receive seven hours of instructional time each day. Students are to be in the classrooms when the second bell rings at 7:45.

This also applies to tardies to class during the day.

The first 3 tardies each 6 weeks are free! No consequence!

4th tardy -- Letter home to parents

              5th tardy – After School Detention (3:00 – 5:00)

6th tardy – After School Detention and a

                      parent conference

              7th tardy – One day OSS and a re-entry

                      conference

THERE ARE NO ÒEXCUSED TARDIES.Ó

Tardy Tally starts over every six weeks. On days when the weather is inclement, the principal may extend the tardy bell until 8:00 at his discretion.
