Read an Africian-American History Book in February!

Book Title: (to be determined individually by each student)...


REQUIREMENTS: The non-fiction book should be at least 50 pages in length.
NOTE: There are multiple selections in the Meigs library, but you may select books from other sources.
DUE: READ + TASK + Book Report Form all to be completed by Monday, March 1, 2010.

Type: Non-fiction

Genre: History

Focus: Historical impact/connections to present time.


February Task: Read the non-fiction book and complete the book report form by March 1. Also, complete one of the two following tasks.

TASK: Create a story bag based on the struggle for equality of the people and/or ideals in the book.
TASK: Create a poster spotlighting the historical significance the history covered in the book selection.



Task Choices:
Language Arts Social Studies
1. Spotlight the struggles on which the book is based in a "story bag" format. The story bag needs to contain items that are representative of this struggle's values, principles, and contributions to society. 2. Create a poster depicking the struggle and ultimate triumph of the people and/or ideals in the book selected. The historical significance should be spotlighted.

EXTRA
CREDIT
Students may pick fan historical fiction book to read for and additional 100 BONUS.
This book should focus on a character that is historically (even though fiction) tied to African-American History.
