Women's History Month!


Read a book that highlights a famous woman in history or present day time that has contributed to women's equal rights in our present-day society.
NOTE: the book will be (non-fiction) (at least 50 pages) (selected by 03.11.10)


REQUIREMENTS: The non-fiction book should be at least 50 pages in length.
NOTE: There are multiple selections in the Meigs library, but you may select books from other sources.
DUE: READ + TASK + Book Report Form all to be completed by Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

Type: Non-fiction

Genre: History

Focus: Historical impact/connections to present time.


March Task: Read the non-fiction book and complete the book report form by March 31. Also, complete one of the two following tasks.

TASK: [PICK ONE]...

1. Explain how the author of the literary work used the book to spotlight the importance of women's history. Write an essay (five paragraph form) that addresses this, the book's literary qualities, and its content. [TYPED - double spaced] [DUE: March 31, 2010]

2. Prepare a poster spotlighting a woman from your book. The poster should contain information/pictures that represent her qualities, feelings, and contributions to society. Posters MUST be decorated and look as if some effort was placed into making them. [14 x 22 inches] [DUE: March 31, 2010]

Students may pick an historical fiction book to read for and additional 100 BONUS.
This book should focus on a character that is historically (even though fiction) tied to Women's History.
