4-H
MeetingÉ
Our January 4-H meeting was today. Students created art posters. The winners in our class are: Dallas: 1st place,
Samuel: 1st place, and Trinity: 1st place. Each of these studentÕsÕ posters are
now going to the county contest.
Noah and Sydney both received 2nd place ribbons and Jared won
3rd place. Unfortunately some students failed to bring a poster to
todayÕs meeting. Please make sure
and plan ahead for next monthÕs meeting – demonstrations. DonÕt procrastinate. Students should also continue to work
on the project sheet they selected.
Trinity, our project leader, will select several students at random to
share each month at the 4-H meeting.
Our community service plans are shaping up. We are considering volunteering at a pet shelter, assisting
at a senior living facility, and reading to the elementary school in our
neighborhood, Ross Elementary.
Science
FairÉ
Again,
students should, at this point, have an hypothesis developed and be testing it
in a controlled setting. The
results of that test will be then analyzed and communicated through the project
display. Projects will be due in
class on Monday, February 8. The
Meigs science fair will occur February 10. Winners at that time will go on the Metro –Nashville
fair in March. For more information go to: http://www.flyparsons.org/sciencefair.html
A
Note from Mr. PÉ
1. Students are
still sitting with classroom teams in the cafeteria for lunch this month.
2. There are several papers being returned today. Some students received papers earlier
to either finish or correct where sufficient effort hadnÕt been given.
3. Please
remember that corrections are not recorded each week after being received on
the Tuesday Signature Sheet. If a
paper was returned to Mr. P with corrections, you may expect to see that added
in at the end of the nine weeks.
4. DonÕt forget to earn extra Meigs Moolah by keeping up
with and filling out a HOMEWORK WORD CHART found on the homework webpage daily.

to be checked. Entries #91-110
will be checked. All entries are

composition notebook. Typed or

completed, a zero will be assigned.
Please be diligent in staying caught up!
HomeworkÉ
Many thanks go to all of the students who are faithful in
turning assignments in on time regularly.
We do, still, have a few students who are continuing to be neglectful in
getting assignments in at the appointed time. Students, please be reminded that failing to turn
assignments in on time is going to affect your report card grade. Please make a new commitment to keep up
to date on homework and make your parents, teacher and yourself proud!
TuesdaysÉ
Students receive graded papers in the Red Tuesday Folder
every Tuesday. All papers do go home on Tuesdays. If for any reason they do not arrive, let Mr. P know. Students may correct any and all
assignments and assessments for some of the credit (points) back. Those corrections
are to be stapled to the Tuesday Folder Signature Sheet. Mr. P then re-grades the corrections
and put the points earned in a category on Gradespeed labeled extra
credit. The original grade does
remain, while the points earned by making corrections are cumulated in that
extra credit category. As
mentioned, student grades are on-line at https://gradespeed.mnps.org. Parents and students have a password to
check each subject in order to view grades. This should be done each Tuesday and recorded on the
Tuesday Folder Signature Sheet.
HOMEWORK
WORDS = Special RewardsÉ
Kids, be sure to check the ÒHWÓ webpage for the HOMEWORK
WORD each day. Each week a special
reward will await those who follow through! By the way there are also chances
for secret words on Twitter and the Tuesday Note Home from time to time! Please look and donÕt forget!
