Science Fair is WednesdayÉ

Thanks, students, for all the hard work youÕve done in researching and testing scientifically!  The hard work has paid off.  The projects that were brought in yesterday are wonderful.  The Meigs science fair will be tomorrow.  Winners from the Meigs fair will go on to compete at  the Metro –Nashville fair March 5-6. Sounds ReadingÉ

Meigs fifth grade students participate in the annual Sounds Reading program from February through April.  Students read prescribed literature and ÒscoreÓ runs to each base.  Rewards are given at each base.  The 2010 program kicks off next Tuesday, February 16.  For more information, visit http://www.flyparsons.org/soundsreading.html

 

Classroom RemindersÉ

2). The monthly book for February is a non-fiction book covering historical significant events spotlighted in Africain-American History Month.

4). Sounds Reading Base 1 runs from February 16- February 26.  ItÕs due March 1.

5). We are studying World War I in social studies, and space in science.

Social Studies FairÉ

Meigs fifth grade students participate in the Metro Social Studies Fair.  Each year, the Metro fair is held in early May.  For more information, visit http://www.flyparsons.org/ssfair.html

 


Student WriterÕs ShowcaseÉ

Meigs fifth grade students also participate in the Student WriterÕs Showcase.  Students will be able to submit writing in many different categories from poetry to play writing.  Student final copies will be due March 1.  Most of the writing will be done in class.

Mr. PÕs ProceduresÉ

Students, the following are reminders of specific classroom procedures:

o      Push your chair in when you leave your desk.

o      Have your agenda signed daily.

o      Locker breaks are 7:45AM, and 2:45PM.  Students should remember to take all materials from the locker at that time.  Keep all materials in your locker until needed. 

o      7:45AM morning work is posted on the television each morning as you arrive in the classroom.  This is due at 8:15AM along with your daily tech task and all homework.  Students, be sure to be prepared everyday and be on time with all of your assignments.

¯    Hey kids, remember to send your Tech Task (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday) via e-mail.  Please send it to Mr. P [james.parsons@mnps.org]. Your tech task should be saved on your computer as a MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD DOCUMENT with your name and date in the title.  Attach the document to an e-mail to send it to Mr. P.  DonÕt forget to include your name and the date in the title of the e-mail.  Doing this will save paper!
