The first nine weeks report cards will be issued on
Monday, November 2. Last nine
weeks, many studentsÕ hard work paid off in great report card averages.

Nine Weeks: ComputersÉ
Our class is in computers this nine weeks. As part
of that class, Mrs. Purcell-Orleck will be teaching keyboarding. Students
will have homework each week that involves practicing keyboarding. The
keyboarding may be completed at any time throughout the week. Each student is to practice five
minutes at five different times a week.

Students have a parent verification chart that is to be kept throughout each
week. These charts will be
collected each Monday morning.
BettyÕs
BrainÉ
Students have begun the study of ecosystems called BettyÕs
Brain. Betty is a teachable agent
that is simulated on a Vanderbilt server.
Students study and plan teaching lesson to teach Betty through the use
of concept maps. For more about

Civil
WarÉ
Civil War historical figure presentations will be made
tomorrow. Each student is to also
dress for the time period of the Civil War. More information is available on our class

Invest in
ExcellenceÉ
This Friday is the next opportunity for our class to be
rewarded for Invest in Excellence.
The fifth grade class with the most students contributing will receive
an ice cream treat at lunch. We
still have six students that havenÕt returned a pledge card. Please help us out if at all possible!
There are other rewards from the PTO and rewards from Mr. P if we can meet our
goal of donations and 100% participation (returning pledge cards and collecting
as much money as possible). Check
