EdmodoÉ
Edmodo
is classroom specific social networking and communication tool. Our class has begun using this teaching
tool. Mr. P will post activities
and polls on the site on a regular basis.
As a reminder, please be very conscious of civility norms that we expect
in class. They should be used
on-line, too. Edmodo is an
extension of our classroom. Treat
it as such. Kids, Mr. P is sure
you will!
Again, ThanksÉ
Once
again, a very special THANK YOU to our special parent who
donated a substantial amount of money to our class recently. From this generous donation and the PTO
matching funding, we now have four new laptop computers in our classroom! These
additional laptops will enable us to allow every student team to have access to
a computer at all times. On days
we also have the laptop cart checked out, we will have enough computers for
every student to use at the same time!
Again, many thanks! We are
so blessed in this class!
BettyÕs BrainÉ
We
are about to finish with round #1 of the BettyÕs Brain experience this
year. At the conclusion of this
round, a post-test will be given.
Students will then begin a team project where students will synthesize
their learning into a real-life solution.
The next installment of Betty will focus on body temperature and
processes. Another Vanderbilt
project our class is working on will involve math. We will pilot some teaching and learning techniques
involving fractions.
RemindersÉ

February 14. The February Book is

5. Beginning Monday, February 14, wresting will
be over and tutoring after school will resume. See Mr. P for more details.
StudyÉ
Please be reminded that in order for a student to maintain high grades,
it is very important that all assignments are completed on time and that time
is spent each day reviewing notes and not just doing that ÒnightÕs homework.Ó
Time studying is a very important part of middle school.

Science Fair RemindersÉ
The science fair is
quickly approaching. The science fair testing (experiment) should be
ready by or very close by Monday, January 31. The firm science fair final
due date is Monday, February 7.
HereÕs a reminder
of the science fair guidelines from MNPS.
1. Must have a testable question
2. Perform at least 3 trials
3. Results must be measurable with
numerical values
4. Should be clear that the student did the
work
5. Results and data should be clearly
presented with graphs and/or tables
6. Photos are encouraged
7. The following materials are not allowed
at the science fair: glass, sharp objects, powder, soil, plants, and/or mold.
8. Student names and/or pictures should not
be shown on the board or logbook.
TuesdaysÉ
As always, Tuesdays
are the day of the week for communication. Parents should receive corrected papers and a ÒMr. PÕs Note HomeÓ in the Red Tuesday
Folder. Always look for those
documents. If ever there is an
exception to that weekly schedule, it will be noted on the website. To confirm
that youÕve received everything, the ÒTuesday
Signature SheetÓ will also be attached. Always fill this form out and return on Wednesday
morning. Tuesday is also a good
day to check GradeSpeed. Parents,
once youÕve done that, fill in current averages on the Tuesday Signature
Sheet. Attach any corrected work
or missing assignments to the back of that sheet. Remember, students, making a low grade or a zero should
never be acceptable!
Bye ByeÉ
