ItÕs Been A Great Two Years!
As our last few days of our two years together wind down,
itÕs a great time to reflect on experiences that we feel have much
meaning. What are our
take-always? What lessons will we
pack in our toolbox to use as we navigate life? What questions are you pondering as you approach 7th
grade? Mr. PÕs blog will have a
spot to hear your end of the year thoughts. Parents and students alike are invited to post and then
re-post to otherÕs posts. LetÕs
make some chatter. Check back
often over the next week to see what others are saying.
Star Party Rescheduled, AgainÉ
Dr. Erika is still planning a star party at the top of the
parking garage at Vanderbilt University.
The re-scheduled date, at this point, up in the air. We are hoping for this upcoming
weekend. If not, we will try for
next week. Information regarding
re-scheduling will be posted on the scrolling message bar at the top of www.flyparsons.com. An e-mail will be sent
once with the date the star party is set.
Lastly, as a reminder, the post-test for the astronomy unit is
Wednesday.
Rocket Day
Rocket Day is Friday, May 20 was cancelled due to several
teachers having family emergencies. We will launch rockets before the school is
over. Our plan, weather
permitting, is to launch this Friday, May 27. The class webpage for more information and class rocket
photos is http://www.flyparsons.org/rocketday.html
Stock Market Fee
After a fun year using the Stock Market Game, itÕs time to
pay the invoice for the program we used. A fee is due for each team of students
who participated. In order to pay
the invoice to MTSU who provides the Stock Market Game, each student is being
requested to bring $6. Make checks
payable to Meigs Magnet School. Only four students have submitted payment at
this point. If you are able to
assist in paying for another student, it would be appreciated.
The Last Tuesday Folder
Two stapled packs of papers were given to students
today. Students have been
instructed to check GradeSpeed tonight and follow through with completing
missing assignments. Late work HAS
BEEN RECORDED. GRADES ARE
CURRENT. Students MUST take care
of low averages immediately before itÕs too late. After this week, itÕs too late! The Note Home is also being provided on-line only this week.
After- School BRI Testing
Just like last year, students must be tested for their
reading levels (BRI). To do this,
Mr. P is testing as many students as possible after school beginning Wednesday,
May 18. Students who normally stay
after school will be tested on his/her normal after-school day. Otherwise, Mr. P is requesting that
arrangements be made for each student to stay one afternoon between now and May
31. Doing this will allow the
class to proceed without having to assign seatwork while testing is done during
the day.
