STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:
Medieval/Middle Ages clothing is required for April 9.
On March 1, students will receive the task and guidelines to completing the tasks.
Social studies assessments will be taken for content/research while language arts assessments will be taken with the presentation of the related material.
Class time will be allotted in social studies and language arts over next two weeks. That which is not completed at school will then need to be completed at home.
Students will work in groups of two or three to complete a ÒFact FileÓ on the topic assigned. The ÒFact FileÓ must be written in each studentÕs own words. Please be aware that any information found in research must be credited to its author. Failing to do so is plagiarism. Five or more quality sources must be used. (See rubric later.) All sources should be noted in the ÒFact FileÓ.
The layout of the ÒFact FileÓ must be clear. Each section should be properly labeled and should include a table of contents or index. All information must be historically accurate and all task questions should be thoroughly answered. Language mechanics and grammar will weight heavily on the final grade of the ÒFact File.Ó Please proofread the material several times.
Please adhere to the expectations stated for completing the ÒFact File.Ó Anything less than stated in the above expectations will result in less than an ÒAÓ project. (See rubric later.)
Visual displays will be constructed that should assist in Òbringing to lifeÓ the topic on which the team is presenting.
Each team of two (or three) may divide the responsibilities of the tasks any way they choose. All questions in the task must be completed and the visual displays (craft project) must be done. If there is any question about equitable responsibility in the team, please see Mr. P.
Each team must get approval by their teacher as to which visuals they are presenting.
Visuals must be well constructed and clearly labeled with descriptions. Anything less will result in less than an ÒAÓ project. (See rubric later.)
Your teacher may ask to see evidence that progress is being made throughout the allotted time. The research time period will begin on Thursday, March 1 and is due to be completed on Thursday, April 5.
Expect grades to be taken along the way in both language arts and social studies that are based on progress and the process through which students are going. These grades will be in addition to the final grade that will assess the final project.
