EXTRAS
December 21, 2010: Winter Solstice...
The winter solstice is unique because:
1. the day has the shortest amount
of daylight in the Nothern Hemisphere
2. the first day of winter
3. shadows are longest on this day
due to the sun being lowest in the sky
4. in 2010, the winter solstice
was especially unique because of a
lunar eclipse occuring the same day:
(first time since the 1600s)
THANKS TO: Sam, Catherine, Camryn, Dallas, Noah H., Sawyer, and Jared for sending in responses all of whom have received the bonus points. A special congrats to Jared for being the only one to completely answer the question correctly.
